Book Cover Redesign
2030: Mauro Guillén

The Rundown:

Project: Redesign Mauro Guillén's book, 2030: How Today's Biggest Trends will Collide and Reshape the Future of Everything

Software: Artios CAD and Adobe Illustrator

Materials: Artios CAD and Adobe Illustrator

Requirements: Incorporate elements of texture and light

Fall 2021

For our fourth project in my packaging design fundamentals course, we were tasked with redesigning Mauro Guillén's book: 2030 using elements of texture and light. After reading summaries and reviews, I took a literal approach to the design and focused on three major concepts: financial success in women, the rise of cryptocurrency, and the shift to city living. These elements can be seen in the sketches and moodboard below, but after developing a first and second draft, I found that it was too busy and decided take a more abstract route.

The final results exhibit a similar color scheme to the perfume packaging where I used complementary colors, yellow and blue, to set contrast and portray lighting through a day and night setting on the front and back covers. I emphasized financial success in women and city life and developed three versions to create different compositions and settings.
